DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Officer I, you will be tasked with assisting in the development of and coordination of complex contracts involving extensive research, multiple and diverse interests, and vendor proposals based on the best value criteria. In this role, you will also review procurement documents and actions for adherence to rules, policies, and procedures. You will work with department experts to administer procurement activities for routine goods and services, develop and implement procurement strategies, and manage purchase orders.

Excellent interpersonal skills are vital to collaborate within the procurement unit, as well as to provide guidance to department staff regarding purchasing rules, regulations, and procedures. This role requires effective research skills to identify cost saving opportunities and meet budgetary requirements. In addition, this work will require you to apply your critical thinking skills to identify and resolve problems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: This position is not eligible for telework.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook or the ability to learn relevant software applications (examples: SharePoint, OnBase, PeopleSoft, etc.) to perform job duties
  • You must possess the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience using PeopleSoft
  • Experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services.
  • Able to work independently to complete assignments and handle a high volume of work in an efficient manner.
