Job Summary

This position will host classical music shifts (live and recorded); promote the station's programming through social media and at station events; produce promos and arts features using digital editing software; fundraise on-air during member drives; oversee the day-to-day operations of the station, maintaining the host calendar and ensuring that all program files are in and ready to air.

Essential Functions

40% - On-air hosting: Produces and hosts on-air classical music shifts, and interacts with the audience through regular participation in social media via the station's pages on Facebook, Instagram, etc.
30% - Operations: Maintains the host calendar, ensuring all shifts are covered; ensures all program files are in and ready to air, assists contract hosts, ensuring they have logs and other material necessary to host their shifts; proofreads underwriting copy.
10% - Produces promos and arts features using digital editing software.
10% - Represents the station at community events.
10% - Producing partner content; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, English, broadcasting, communication or a related field and five years of on-air experience in journalism, news, multimedia, and audio board operations in recorded and live situations that includes demonstrated experience through on-air portfolio within the last five years that shows an understanding of target audiences, continuity, broadcast technology, interviewing skills, and well-written on-air news which includes two years of supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Five (5) years of experience hosting classical radio air shifts
B. Three (3) years of experience producing content for air using digital editing software
C. Two (2)years of experience representing a station at community events
D. One (1) year of experience promoting radio programming on social media

Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require some evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
