Job Summary 92NY's Art Center offers a wide variety of afterschool and weekend visual art classes for children/teens ages 4 - 17. The Art Center welcomes over 300 children and teens each semester with classes led by Teaching Artists. The 92NY's Art Center Teaching Assistant Program offers participants a hands-on classroom experience that provides tools and techniques for working in the field of visual art education. Classes run from September to January and then from January until mid June. Job Responsibilities Include
Support and collaborate with lead Teaching Artists in weekly art classes. Teaching Assistants work in a mentorship relationship with Art Center children's faculty who are experienced with lesson planning, classroom development and management.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
Work Environment & Requirements Subject to class assignments, which are generally from 4:00pm-5:30pm on weekday afternoons and during the daytime on weekends. In addition to class time, Teaching Assistants are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to class and stay 15 minutes after class ends to assist with student drop off and pick up.
