UVA Health's Acute General Medicine units provide high-quality, patient-centered care for adults with a variety of acute medical conditions, including respiratory, endocrine, infectious disease, renal, gastrointestinal, and select cardiology cases. Our teams care for higher-acuity patients which allows team members to learn to manage complex co-morbidities that require strong clinical judgment and adaptability.
Our five units: 3 East (25 beds) 3 Central (27 beds) 3 West (26 beds) 3 North (12 beds) 4 Central (17 beds) What sets our Acute General Care units apart? Collaborative and supportive environment where nurses work closely with an interdisciplinary team. 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring manageable workloads and high-quality care. Free-floating charge nurse every shift, providing additional support and leadership. Resources in place to help maintain work-life balance while delivering excellent patient care. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing BSN/MSN program that will be completed within 5 years of hire. Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
