JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College (Penn State Behrend), invites applicants for an open rank tenure-track position in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) starting the Spring term (January) or the Fall term of 2025. The successful candidate should be committed to undergraduate education, developing a funded research program, and service to the university. Areas of teaching and research include, but are not limited to, microelectronics, battery technology, electric machines, communications, cyber-physical systems, embedded systems, computer architecture and networks, operating systems, and digital signal processing. A Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field is required. Industrial experience is desired.

Assistant Professor - The assistant professor should possess a terminal degree or its equivalent in organized research or professional practice; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher or research worker; and must have shown definite evidence of growth in scholarly, artistic, or professional achievement.

Associate Professor - The associate professor should possess the same qualifications as the assistant professor, but must also provide evidence of an established reputation in scholarly, artistic, or professional achievement.

Professor - The professor should possess the same qualifications as the associate professor, but must also provide evidence of a substantial record of advanced research and/or creative work, and of leadership in their field of specialization. This rank should be reserved for persons of proven stature in teaching and/or research.

Research is an integral part of the faculty and student experience spanning fundamental and applied domains. Knowledge Park at Penn State Behrend is home to 20+ companies which foster a rich ecosystem for industry research. With a planned Center for Manufacturing Competitiveness opening in 2026, there are many opportunities to engage with industry, notably with a new heavy haul battery test center facility.

Onsite teaching is an essential function of this job.
