Overview Serves as the Operating Engineer in Federal Government buildings and performs duties associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning and heating equipment. Work shall be per-formed under the supervision and guidance of the Contractor's Chief Engineer who shall assigns the work, makes re-views and inspections of the work to be performed and provides technical advice and assistance in the performance of all other assigned duties. Specific instructions shall be furnished on all assignments, except routine and un-skilled repetitive tasks. Written guidelines shall consist of "Watches," "Tours," "Preventive Maintenance" guides, manufacturers' operations, and repair manuals, and any applicable directives and instructions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * While on watch or tour, incumbent makes adjustments and minor repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment and component parts of heating and air-conditioning systems and auxiliary support equipment. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Other work-related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: * Must have a minimum of 3-6 years' experience working in the Commercial Facilities/ Operation and Maintenance Arena. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: * Thorough understanding of and ability to execute proper maintenance procedures for mechanical and plant equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, structural and non-structural systems. Also, must be Universal CFC Certified. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
