Printpack is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Product Development Engineer I or II. This position is based out of our Atlanta, GA Headquarters and will report to the Product Development Manager.

In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with customers, sales, and our manufacturing teams to drive the successful commercialization of cutting-edge packaging products. Requirements:

  • Four (4) year degree in Engineering (Chemical or Materials preferred), Packaging Science, or equivalent work experience.

  • Travel commitment: 35% (Customer/Printpack plant trials)

Preferred Background and Skills:

  • Experience in a flexible packaging industry

  • Direct customer interaction experience

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • The ideal candidate will be a good fit with our culture which treats all people with respect, is customer-focused, and values collaboration, responsiveness, and personal integrity.

  • Product Development and/or Application Development and/or Process Engineering experience

  • Printing, laminating, bag/pouch-making experience

  • BOPP/PET/PE films, polymers, adhesives, inks experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating directly with customers, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and operations planning for rapid, successful commercialization of new converted products. An ability to build good relationships with a wide variety of people is key to success.

  • Identifying opportunities for innovative growth including developing recyclable paper or plastic packaging to achieve our customers' sustainability goals. Disseminating such information appropriately within the Printpack technical community.

  • Designing new product specifications to be fit-for-use for our customers and fit-for-make in our manufacturing processes.

  • Effective and proactive technical communication with our sales team and customers to maintain and grow our flexible packaging business.

  • Working directly with our Sourcing Team and external suppliers to identify and qualify alternative raw materials to improve supply reliability and reduce costs.

  • Supporting manufacturing with on-site support of trials and be an external resource for materials-related root cause investigation.
