Overview

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Full Time

7:30am-4:00pm

Rock Island, IL

Under general supervision performs professional duties in the application of Nuclear Medicine services. Demonstrates proficiency in performing all Nuclear Medicine Exams, handling and administering radioactive pharmaceuticals, and other related patient care services.

Responsibilities

Job Performance

  • Demonstrates competency in preparing patients for procedures and the administration of radioactive materials.
  • Correctly performs all prescribed Nuclear Medicine procedures in an efficient manner
  • Is able to work independently and critique exams.
  • Utilizes good judgment to plan effectively and solve problems.
  • Is cognizant of radiation safety to self and others.
  • Demonstrates competency in the storage and transfer of exams.
  • Demonstrates annual competency in the handling, storage and transfer of radiopharmaceuticals.

Patient Care

  • Provides patient education and insures correct consent forms are signed.
  • Demonstrates competence in the administration of age appropriate care.
  • Obtains and records adequate patient history and interprets physician's orders correctly.
  • Correctly orders, tracks and charges exams in a timely fashion.

Quality Improvement

  • Assures that equipment is in proper working order and performs all necessary quality control testing.
  • Logs in technical information, completes reports and surveys, and complies with all regulatory agencies.
  • Documents appropriately in NMIS.
  • Completes Occurrence Reports as needed.
  • Participates in hospital wide Performance Improvement as needed

Qualifications

Required::

  • Graduate of JRCERT approved school for Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiologic Technology with equivalent training and experience as required by the licensing bodies.
  • The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists/Nuclear Medicine, or The Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
  • Holds a current license or conditional license from the State of Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Nuclear Medicine, and/or the Iowa Department of Public Health.
  • CPR certification required
