Peoria's Development and Engineering Department has an opportunity for a Building Inspector II position that will work directly with the general public and contractors. This position is to perform skilled work in all phases of residential building inspections and commercial inspections as the need arises to ensure compliance. This is accomplished by performing building inspections to assure compliance with the City's building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes, other city ordinances, and state and federal laws. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.

Other Requirements

Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: High School graduation or equivalency
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions
  • Physical Demands: Lifting between 25 and 50 pounds.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License upon hire.
  • Possession of ICC Residential Combination or equivalent Residential Inspector certification is required at the time of application.


Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:



  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
