Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix has established the Phoenix Children's Research Institute that will complement and support growing clinical programs of distinction at Phoenix Children's. We seek an experienced, accomplished and innovative independent investigator with MD, MD/PhD or PhD degrees whose research interests are focused in a field that relates to the health of children and adolescents. The investigator will be expected to build a comprehensive, multi-investigator, interdisciplinary team. A strong track record of publishing peer-reviewed, high impact articles in PubMed-indexed journals is required. The candidate will be required to submit intramural and extramural research grant proposals in the area of their proposed research program. Finally, the candidate will be expected to participate in the educational, training and service missions of the Department and College.
Research laboratories are housed in new, state-of-the-art facilities with core services. The investigator will be expected to perform, develop and direct the research activities of the Institute, fostering collaboration with faculty across the College, Phoenix Children's and the University. Applicants will have an outstanding track record in scholarship and ongoing and previous extramural funding records as a principal investigator. Professorial appointment will be at the associate or professor rank. Options for tenure-track appointment are available for the appropriate applicant. In addition to recruiting new investigators, the Institute will draw from investigators in the various departments of the College and clinical affiliates. The successful candidate will promote collaborative research programs within the colleges in Phoenix, as well as with other research programs in Tucson. Additional opportunities for collaboration include the Translational Cardiovascular Research Center, Norton Thoracic Institute and Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Center for Applied NanoBioscience and Medicine, Translational Genomics Research Institute and Arizona State University. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Maintain an extensively federally-funded and internationally-competitive research program.
- Publish research findings in leading journals.
- Develop collaborations with pertinent faculty within the college and partner institutions.
- Contribute to the teaching and service missions of the college.
- Engage in external academic and professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Have an MD, PhD or MD/PhD
degree or the equivalent. - Be eligible for a University of
Arizona academic appointment at the assistant professor level or higher. - Be eligible for employment with
Phoenix Children's. - Have an outstanding track
record in scholarship and sustained extramural funding as a principal investigator and demonstrated success in program development and mentoring.
