Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purposes of the Organizational Unit

The mission of the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is to provide childcare that encompasses the needs of each child and family in a safe, educational environment. The structure of the ECLC's focus is on the individual needs of each child, while providing quality, reliable, and safe childcare in preparation for higher education.

The ECLC seeks to provide a program of experience designed to attain the following goals: to provide many opportunities for social development and adjustment; to promote development of good health habits; to provide opportunities for self-expression through language, music, art, role playing, dramatizations, and other play experiences. To provide an atmosphere in which a child can succeed, thus building confidence in his or her own ability and worth.to provide an atmosphere in which creativity is stimulated; to develop a feeling of adequacy with emphasis on independence and good work habits; and to lay foundations for subject matter learning and intellectual growth.
Description of Work Continued:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide young children ages 4-5 with the activities in the areas of fine and gross motor, social-emotional skills, and enrich their cognitive skills. The prospective employee will be fully responsible for planning age-appropriate activities and implementing an after-school program.

  • The prospective employee will be responsible for recording attendance, times the child is picked up, and any additional paperwork.
  • The prospective employee will be responsible for maintaining an environment that is free of danger and she/he must have the ability to administer CPR and first aid should the need arise.
  • The prospective employee will be responsible for maintaining an open line of communications with parents of these children as well as ECLC staff.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school and one year of related childcare experience.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
COMMUNICATION:
Ability to provide effective feedback to leadership regarding developmental progress and classroom needs.
Ability to convey information effectively in written form to parents and other caregivers such as daily progress reports or classroom observations.
Ability to further organizational mission and goals through participation in community outreach.

CHILDCARE AND INSTRUCTION:
Ability to apply knowledge of childcare techniques to ensure basic physical care of children.
Ability to work with children in groups and individually to model socialization and behavior skills.

CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION:
Ability to carry out varied instructional plans for assigned age groups.
Ability to provide feedback regarding curriculum comprehension to leadership.

SAFETY:
Ability to apply knowledge of safety techniques to facilities and children.
Ability to provide preventive measures, first aid, medication, and treatments as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Early Childhood or Elementary B.S. Program
Special Instructions to Applicants:
Selected Candidates will need to obtain a DCDEE background check, TB test and physical before starting work.
