Position Description:
Valley's bariatric surgery program is accredited as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The program has also received the Women's Choice Award as one of America's Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery. Dedicated weight-loss specialists. In addition to our skilled surgeons, our team includes a nurse practitioner, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, psychologists and a skilled office staff - all dedicated to helping you achieve your weight-loss goals. Free monthly support group meetings create a network where patients can help each other reach their goals and sustain their accomplishments. Bariatrician screens & follows up patients for obesity and obesity-related comorbidities, performs, body composition & metabolic assessments, performs diet evaluation & physical activity measurements, counsels on lifestyle changes, participates in a multidisciplinary approach for medical weight loss and makes appropriate referrals to the multidisciplinary team. Participates in medical weight loss quality improvement initiatives. Collaborates with and/ or supervises advanced practice providers within the department as needed. Participates in community outreach and engagement activities pertaining to endocrinology and bariatrics.

EDUCATION:

Position Requirement:
M.D or D.O from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy from a recognized institution
Board certified or board eligible in obesity medicine
A valid New Jersey State Medical license, DEA, and CDS is required.
BLS required, and ACLS preferred
Maintains CME credit hours as required for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges
