Body Shop Technician

Summary: The Body Shop Technician is responsible for performing bodywork and general repairs on class 6, 7, and 8 trucks. This role involves following instructions from supervisors, preparing repair estimates, performing body repairs, and ensuring vehicles are restored to proper condition.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Follow supervisors' instructions regarding which parts to restore or replace and the estimated time for the job.
  • Review damage reports, prepare or review repair cost estimates, and plan work accordingly.
  • Sand body areas to be painted and protect bumpers, windows, and trim with masking tape or paper.
  • Fit and weld replacement parts into place, using wrenches and welding equipment, and grind down welds to smooth them.
  • Prime and paint repaired surfaces using paint spray guns and sanders.
  • Remove damaged sections of vehicles using metal-cutting guns, air grinders, and wrenches, and install replacement parts.
  • Chain or clamp frames and sections to alignment machines to align damaged components.
  • Fill small dents with plastic or solder.
  • File, grind, sand, and smooth filled or repaired surfaces using power and hand tools.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical equipment, and trim to access vehicle bodies and fenders.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
