Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our team!

Shift: FT - Days

The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates advanced and specialized clinical knowledge and skills to facilitate the provision of patient/family-focused care to promote health and/or well-being improve quality of life; drive practice changes throughout the organization and ensure use of evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes. This individual provides expertise and support either directly or indirectly by influencing patients/families, nurses/nursing practice, and organization/systems through direct care, leadership, coaching, research, ethical decision making, collaboration, and consultation.

Education:

  • Master's degree required. Doctorate preferred.

Certification:

  • RN license VA or compact/multi state eligible.
  • Must be certified in specialty area deemed eligible for CNS as recognized by State Boards of Nursing.
  • CNS registration with Virginia or North Carolina Board of Nursing required.
  • BLS Required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for Intermediate Care and Critical Care.

Experience:

  • 2 years + of Nursing experience, recent experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Experience with adult population required.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
