Application Window Open date: January 22, 2024 Next review date: Tuesday, Apr 15, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Jul 22, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Junior Specialist in the Laboratory for Brain Tumor Research Center Under direct supervision, the Junior Specialist will provide technical and administrative support to the investigators in the Laboratory for Brain Tumor Research Center. This research entails biological and immunological studies of brain tumors in rodents and human tissues to discover novel effective treatments for patients suffering from brain tumors. The Junior Specialist will contribute to laboratory management as well as the collection of high-quality data for our research team. Specific duties include: performing experimental surgeries, such as the stereotactic inoculation of tumor cells in the brain and stereotactic delivery of oncogenes that induce brain tumors in rodents; the administration of drug therapies to rodents; quantifying rodent tumor sizes; preparing tumor and immune cells for therapy models; histological and biochemical preparation of tissues; tissue sectioning and staining; hi-resolution microscopic and biochemical analyses of brain parenchymal and tumorous tissues; placing supply orders and resolving housekeeping issues; and assisting with the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts. Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must possess (or in the process of obtaining) a baccalaureate or equivalent degree and commit to the role for a minimum of two years. Applicants' materials must list qualifications, pending or otherwise, upon submission. Applicants must have obtained the required degree for the Junior Specialist rank by the time of hire.
