The Opportunity

The College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applicants for multiple full-time, 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor, or tenured associate professor, or professor positions. The positions are anticipated to be located on the UCF Orlando main campus. The positions will be in either the Department of Nursing Systems or the Department of Nursing Practice and are expected to begin in Fall 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor


  • A doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution by the date of hire, or a research doctorate in a related discipline from an accredited institution with an earned master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, by date of hire.

  • Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire, with an upgrade to multi-status within the first semester of contract.

  • Research and scholarly activity focused on simulation and immersive technology, environment/climate change, healthy aging, vulnerable populations, mental health, population health, quality, safety and patient outcomes, healthcare for emerging space industry, informatics, or big data analytics. Other research areas may also be considered.


Associate Professor or Professor:


  • A doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution by the date of hire, or a research doctorate in a related discipline from an accredited institution with an earned master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, by date of hire.

  • Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire, with an upgrade to multi-status within the first semester of contract.

  • A program of research and scholarly activity focused on simulation and immersive technology, environment/climate change, healthy aging, vulnerable populations, mental health, population health, quality, safety and patient outcomes, healthcare for emerging space industry, informatics, or big data analytics. Other research areas may also be considered.

  • A sustained record of research and extramural funding commensurate with rank.

  • A sustained publication record commensurate with rank.


To be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor or professor upon hire, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with rank.

Preferred Qualifications:

Assistant Professor


  • Record of research and extramural funding commensurate with rank.

  • Publication record commensurate with rank.

  • Record of teaching and service commensurate with rank.

  • Experience in online course instruction.


Associate Professor or Professor


  • Experience in mentoring doctoral students and early career faculty.

  • History of interdisciplinary research collaborations.

  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate education commensurate with rank.

  • Experience in online course development and instruction.

  • Record of service commensurate with rank.
