Nurse Practitioner- Research -Per Diem

The Clinical and Translational Research Center is an outpatient facility that services the needs of clinical researchers within the UCLA HealthSystem. Patients on Phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical trials receive treatment, including investigational infusions and pharmacokinetic blood draws, bothin the CTRC and from CTRC nurses in mobile assignments throughout the health system. CTRC nurses work closely with principle investigatorsand coordinators to ensure accurate and ethical clinical research care. The Research NP functions in an interdependent role by implementingthe appropriate "standardized procedures" (SP).

By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs andsymptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition, and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca NursingPractice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). The Research NP will also provide and coordinate the care of clinical research patients, providepatient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. When not needed in the NP role, the Research NP will participate in bedside care as aregistered nurse. In the Research NP role, the NP will promote the ethical care of research patients and liaison with principle investigators tocare for clinical trial patients, as well as provide education and support, make appropriate referrals and document services rendered.

Salary range: $98.95/hourly

• BLS Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association-required
• CA RN and CA NP License-required
• National Certification in FNP Specialty-required
• MSN/DNP in FNP specialty-required
• Previous NP experience required
• NP in an urgent care or emergency department or oncology- preferred
• Research experience -preferred
• Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programs-required
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel-required
• Skill in working independently and following through with minimum directions-required
• Ability to set priorities-required
• Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence-required
• Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner-required
