CNC Set Up Machinist

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNC machining certification or technical training is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

Experience Requirements

• 3+ years of CNC milling machine operation experience in a custom manufacturing or high-mix production environment.
• Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC milling equipment.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and production workflows.
• Experience performing quality inspections and verifying parts meet specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• CNC programming experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with machine setup, tooling adjustments, and process optimization.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production teams.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely load and unload materials, parts, and tooling.
• Capable of lifting, moving, and handling production materials as required.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts based on production demands.

Job Duties

• Operate CNC milling machines using established programs, work instructions, blueprints, and production documentation.
• Set up CNC milling equipment and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain production efficiency.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to produce accurate parts.
• Load and unload raw materials, finished parts, and tooling safely and efficiently.
• Monitor tooling for wear, damage, or breakage and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform in-process inspections and final quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
• Complete secondary operations and part-finishing tasks during machine cycle times.
• Move completed parts to designated production, staging, or inspection areas.
• Maintain production schedules and complete work orders accurately and on time.
• Support other manufacturing departments and perform additional duties as needed to meet operational goals.
