Systems Engineering Consultant

Job Description:

Dynamo Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineering Consultant to provide systems engineering support for the Alternative Navigation (ALTNAV) program within PdL NAVWAR. The selected candidate will support the development, integration, testing, configuration management, and ongoing technical management of ALTNAV capabilities throughout the program lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a strong systems engineering background and experience supporting DoD acquisition programs, with the ability to manage engineering tasks, evaluate technical issues, coordinate with vendors and stakeholders, and develop and maintain engineering and acquisition documentation.

This position requires an individual who can work independently on assigned engineering activities while collaborating closely with product leadership, government stakeholders, vendors, platform organizations, and external stakeholders supporting the ALTNAV system-of-systems approach.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the ALTNAV systems engineering model.
• Prepare for and support engineering review boards and technical reviews.
• Lead Technical Interchange Review (TIR) scoring reviews and provide technical assessments.
• Review and validate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
• Perform configuration management activities and ensure technical baselines are maintained.
• Review software patches and assess potential impacts to system performance and functionality.
• Conduct failure investigation and securing reviews and support development of mitigation strategies.
• Create, modify, and review engineering and acquisition documentation to support program milestones and system requirements.
• Support the development and maintenance of Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs), configuration management documentation, risk management documentation, and other program engineering artifacts.
• Participate in product, platform, vendor, and customer meetings and technical reviews.
• Assess vendor progress and provide technical recommendations to the Assistant Product Manager and program leadership regarding technical issues and potential solutions.
• Interface with external stakeholder organizations supporting the ALTNAV system-of-systems architecture.
• Support requirements analysis, development, derivation, documentation, and traceability.
• Support systems design, architecture, integration, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and hardware/software validation activities.
• Update program documentation, technical briefings, and decision-support materials to incorporate current technical information and program strategies.
• Manage assigned engineering tasks and support planning for future enhancements across the diverse technical areas of the ALTNAV program.
• Provide technical inputs to program cost estimates and technical planning activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for system health monitoring, failure identification, and mitigation.
• Participate in IPTs, working groups, engineering meetings, and program reviews as required.
• Provide technical inputs and recommendations to support program cost, schedule, technical performance, and lifecycle objectives.

• Experience supporting system integration, testing, validation, or technical evaluation activities.
• Ability to evaluate technical issues and provide clear, actionable recommendations to program leadership.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with government customers, vendors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering tasks and meet program milestones.
• Ability to work independently while recognizing when coordination or leadership guidance is required.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience supporting PNT, navigation, GPS/GNSS, or alternative navigation (ALTNAV) programs or technologies.
• Experience supporting Army acquisition programs.
• Experience with system-of-systems engineering and integration.
• Experience with Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and engineering change/configuration control processes.
• Experience conducting or supporting Technical Interchange Reviews (TIRs) or similar technical evaluations.
• Experience supporting software patch reviews, failure investigations, or failure securing activities.
• Experience with DoDAF architecture products.
• Experience with digital engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience supporting major DoD technical reviews, including SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, PRR, FCA, or PCA.
• Experience with risk management and technical risk assessments.
• Experience with host platform integration and Army platform integration.
• Experience working with vendors to assess technical progress, resolve engineering issues, and evaluate proposed solutions.
• Familiarity with IEEE 1220 systems engineering principles.
• Experience developing SOPs or processes for system health monitoring, failure detection, and mitigation.
• Active DoD security clearance.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a systems engineering-related field with at least 7 years of experience, OR a master's degree with at least 5 years of experience in systems engineering for DoD systems.

Travel Requirement:

• Up to 25% travel
