Position Summary

Description:
The Lead Person will support Felt Line operations by overseeing daily activities on the production floor to help ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. The person in this role works within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action. The Lead Person provides direction, support, and leadership to cell team members while partnering with the Department Manager to meet production, cost, and customer satisfaction goals.

Job Requirements:

  • Coordinate all cell activities to support production schedules, cost goals, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical, quality, and production leadership to cell team members.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts for manufacturing, assembly, and process improvements for assigned products and processes.
  • Perform administrative duties to support the business, including completing labor sheets, verifying work order accuracy, updating Team Improvement Boards, and other related tasks.
  • Work outside regular shift hours as needed to set up or support the production line.
  • Mentor and motivate team members in safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Handle multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and focus.
  • Communicate effectively and contribute to team projects.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, project, and team leadership skills.
  • Work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Required:

  • Experience in manufacturing or packaging operations, such as bagging, palletizing, production line work, or similar processes.
  • Proven ability to lead on the production floor by assigning work, coaching team members, and driving execution.
  • Strong attention to detail for quality checks and documentation accuracy.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and clear, direct communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and coach others.
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong attendance, and accountability.

Preferred:

  • Four-year degree.
  • Prior lead or line leader experience in bagging, bulk packaging, or high-speed production.
  • Familiarity with basic equipment checks, including sensors, scales, printers, and conveyors.
  • Experience with production reporting, shift handoffs, and continuous improvement practices such as 5S or Lean.

Physical & Work Environment:

  • Standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs., bending, and working around moving equipment throughout the shift.
  • Use of PPE and adherence to all plant safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Shift work may include weekends, overtime, and off-shift coverage based on production needs.
