Position Summary

MedInsight is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead the next phase of our technology and organizational evolution. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this executive will lead an approximately 100-person global engineering organization spanning application development, data engineering, platform engineering, AI, and technical operations.

The VP will shape engineering strategy, strengthen leadership and operating capabilities, modernize core platforms, improve delivery predictability, and accelerate responsible AI-enabled innovation. This is an opportunity to influence product and business strategy while building the engineering organization required to support a market-leading healthcare analytics business.

The successful candidate will combine technical depth, organizational leadership, and business judgment. They will have led meaningful engineering transformation in a complex, data-intensive environment and will know how to translate architecture, talent, and technology investments into measurable client and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute a long-term engineering strategy aligned with MedInsight's business and product objectives.
• Improve engineering velocity, delivery predictability, quality, reliability, security, testing, and operational excellence.
• Establish consistent engineering standards, architecture practices, automation, observability, and scalable development processes.
• Accelerate responsible adoption of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies across products, engineering, and operations.
• Partner with Product and business leaders to identify AI opportunities that create measurable client and business value.
• Guide architecture and technology investment decisions, including modernization, technical debt, build-versus-buy decisions, and platform capabilities.
• Build and develop a strong engineering leadership organization, succession pipeline, and technical talent strategy.
• Reduce key-person dependencies through automation, self-service, knowledge transfer, and scalable operating practices.
• Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, learning, continuous improvement, and high performance.
• Partner closely with Product, Operations, Analytics/Data Science, Security, Client Services, and Executive Leadership.
• Translate complex technical concepts and tradeoffs into clear business outcomes and executive decisions.
• Serve as a trusted technical leader with selected clients, prospects, technology partners, and industry audiences.

Engineering Environment

MedInsight's engineering environment includes Azure and Databricks, with primary development languages and technologies including C#, SQL, Python, and PowerShell. The organization is also adopting AI-enabled engineering and productivity tools, including Claude Code, Genie Code, and GitHub Copilot.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including significant executive-level leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated success building, scaling, or materially transforming an engineering organization of significant size, including establishing leadership capacity, operating practices, architecture discipline, and sustainable delivery capabilities.
• Extensive experience in data-intensive technology environments, including data warehousing, large-scale data engineering, analytics platforms, and/or Big Data.
• Strong understanding of how engineering organizations supporting data-centric businesses differ from traditional application software organizations.
• Experience leading multiple engineering disciplines, including application development, data engineering, platform engineering/infrastructure, and/or artificial intelligence.
• Proven ability to lead significant technology, organizational, and operational transformation.
• Demonstrated success developing senior engineering leaders and building a strong leadership bench.
• Strong technical credibility across cloud computing, data platforms, software engineering, architecture, and emerging technologies.
• Ability to connect engineering strategy and technology investment decisions to business outcomes.
• Exceptional executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional influence skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, healthcare analytics, health technology, insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated or data-intensive industry.
• Experience leading organizations through significant technology, modernization or transformation.
• Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, AI-enabled products, or AI-native engineering practices.
• Experience with Azure, Databricks, or comparable cloud and data platforms.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms while building next-generation capabilities.
• Experience leading global or distributed engineering organizations.

Compensation:

The overall salary range for this role is $208,610 - $354,660. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.

Location and Travel

This role will be in Seattle, Washington and follows a hybrid schedule, requiring at least 2-3 days in office per week. Travel is expected to be modest and likely less than 25%, including approximately one or two trips to India annually, one or two Milliman forums, selected partner meetings, and occasional additional business travel.
