BIT Engineer I - NOC Engineer

As a member of the AZPM Technology team, the Broadcast Engineer and Technology Professional I (BIT Engineer I - NOC Engineer) supports the installation, configuration, documentation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of software and hardware systems used in on-air origination, post-production, media encoding, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), motion graphics, and interconnected data networks.

Working collaboratively with the Technology team, this position assists with maintaining reliable broadcast and IT systems that support AZPM operations. The position requires flexibility within the core workday and participation in on-call support for a 24/7 broadcast operation.

• Assists with troubleshooting IP network and Ethernet connectivity, including TCP/IP, multicasting, VPNs, and packet routing.
• Helps maintain linear and non-linear content storage, transcoding, and OTT delivery systems.
• Assists with maintaining the availability and reliability of commonly used IP, SD/HD/UHD SDI digital video, and digital audio systems.
• Monitors Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), post-production video and audio editing systems, and motion graphics systems, following established procedures.
• Assists with monitoring and control system support and troubleshooting to help maintain stable and reliable on-air services.
• Assists with routine maintenance of virtualization and scale-out NAS file systems, including configurations and permissions.
• Works with University teams to support Active Directory maintenance.
• Provides routine support for production applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and DaVinci Resolve.
• Assists with creating and maintaining SOPs, technical reference documents, and drawings for operations and support users.
• Works with technical management and internal departments to support hardware/software configuration and technical support.
• Assists with the configuration of Windows, Mac, and Linux workstations and server operating systems and provides routine hardware component troubleshooting.
• Assists with maintaining multi-channel automation systems and radio and television playback servers, supporting file-based workflows, and troubleshooting routine issues.
• Assists with maintaining production systems, including virtual set calibration and troubleshooting, and learns to support camera motion capture devices and 3D rendering software.
• Provides routine IT support for broadcast scheduling software, broadcast automation software, and other applications used by AZPM team members.
• Assists with the installation, configuration, and routine maintenance of system hardware and software, including servers and operating systems, and assists with maintaining user accounts.
• Assists with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of workstation hardware, software, and peripherals, including routine troubleshooting and upgrades.
• Assists with implementing and monitoring established computer security and quality assurance procedures and maintains associated documentation.
• Participates in research on current and emerging computing technologies.

• Ability to install and configure video and audio equipment following established procedures.
• Ability to fabricate custom video/audio and Ethernet copper cable assemblies.
• Ability to perform routine system checks and document anomalies.
• Working knowledge of video and audio encoding and compression standards.
• Working knowledge of MPEG-4 encoders, MPEG Transport Stream analyzers, and satellite transmission equipment.
• Working knowledge of asset management systems and automated workflows.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet packet analysis and/or network performance management tools such as Wireshark, NetScout, InfoBlox, and LogicMonitor.

Physical Requirement:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
• 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule and participate in on-call support as needed to support a 24/7 broadcast operation.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in a broadcast, media production, post-production, or related technical environment.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting network storage systems, switches, and routers.
• Experience supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux servers and/or workstations; familiarity with JAMF/JSS is a plus.
• Familiarity with ProTrack, RCS, Crispin, or other radio/television traffic and automation systems.
