Job Description

Position Summary

Air Industries Company, a Precision Castparts Corp. company, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Cost Accountant to join our Finance team on a temporary-to-hire basis. This position will provide critical accounting support, cost analysis, inventory tracking, and financial reporting functions while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong Excel skills, solid accounting knowledge, and experience with financial reporting, cost accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations. This individual will support manufacturing cost processes, inventory accounting, and financial analysis while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute and maintain cost roll processes within the ERP system.
  • Assist with the maintenance of standard costs, cost structures, and product costing data.
  • Support monthly accounting close activities, including journal voucher (JV) preparation, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial and operational reports.
  • Monitor and track inventory-related costs, fixed inventory records, and inventory transactions.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, labor expenses, material usage, and overhead allocations.
  • Review cost variances and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support inventory accounting activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory adjustments.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data through detailed reviews, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Assist with profit and loss reporting and balance sheet account analysis.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, and other departments to gather financial and operational data.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies.
  • Maintain organized documentation and records in compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, or a related finance role.
  • Manufacturing industry experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities and general ledger accounting.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Understanding of Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheet accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems (Syspro experience preferred).
  • Experience supporting inventory accounting, cost management, and manufacturing reporting.
  • Familiarity with standard costing methodologies and variance analysis.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and production cost tracking.
  • Experience in aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or related industries.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in an office environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move files or office materials up to 15 pounds.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $24 to $27 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
