Practice locations can include Duke Health's three hospitals or over 140 primary care and specialty care clinics throughout North Carolina. Job Location Hematologic Malignancy and Cellular Therapy. Duke University Hospital Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to deliver high-quality, direct patient care. Working in close partnership with attending physicians, you will manage comprehensive clinical data, order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory studies, perform therapeutic procedures, and coordinate professional consultations to optimize patient outcomes. Job Duties & Responsibilities Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis. Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform through physical examinations. Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities. Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications. Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection. Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care. Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members. Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners. See scheduled and unscheduled patients. Attend program required meetings. Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME. Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies. Maintain institutional requirements for compliance. Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (within the scope of practice of the supervising physician). These may include, but are not limited to the following: bone marrow biopsy/aspirate bone marrow harvest lumbar puncture diagnostic and therapeutic with intrathecal chemotherapy. Analytical thinking skills with curiosity and ability to investigate and diagnose. Competence with technology Excellent communication skills and customer service skills Experience working independently and as a part of a team The desire and willingness to continue to learn Job Eligibility Requirements Education Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing. Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred. Certification NP:NP certification that treats adults (FNP, ANP, AGNP, AGACNP, Acute Care experience preferred) PA: PA-C BLS ACLS preferred License Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment. Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Experience Hematology Oncology experience preferred but not required Job Hours Monday through Sunday includes Weekends and Holidays 12- hour day shift 7A-7P. 14 shifts per month.
