Maintenance Mechanic- Part Time 19- West Lake Park/Hollywood North Beach

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Maintenance Mechanic- Part Time 19 at West Lake Park and Hollywood North Beach Park.

General Description
Performs the routine and preventative maintenance work on a variety of buildings, structures, and non-fleet related park equipment including but not limited to; utility carts, mowers, chainsaws, blowers, weed-eaters, electrical, lighting, plumbing, painting, general carpentry, equipment maintenance, and small motors, etc. Organize maintenance areas, performs routine, general custodial duties during times where the park is open to the public. Complete checklists, log equipment maintenance and communicate with park management on any issues or concerns and provide updates as needed.

Light Carpenter tasks
Fence repairs, Small tile replacement, Concrete / asphalt repairs, Minor roof repairs, Fascia repairs, Interior and exterior wall patching, Door hardware repairs, Minor deck and railing repair, Small repair/replace of molding, trim, siding etc.

Light Plumbing tasks
Snake / plunge toilets, Replace toilet seats, Install / repair sink faucets, Repair minor water leaks, Replace / repair hose bibs, Repair / replace flush-o-meters, Minor irrigation repairs, Install bathroom accessories

Light Electrical tasks
Repair / replace change light fixtures, switches, covers and receptacles, Program time clocks, Replace light bulbs, fixtures and ballast, Trouble-shoot low voltage issues

Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires two (2) years in industrial or commercial maintenance work depending on area of assignment or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License with authority to drive a county vehicle for duration of appointment.

Preferences:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information:
All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes post-offer physical examination and drug testing. Ability to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
