PGM Buyer

Stellantis
United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills
Aug 08, 2026

This purchasing role leads North America PGM operations within Sustainable Raw Materials, with a focus on consigned-material process used to support catalyst supply for exhaust systems, finance approvals, hedging administration, and monthly reconciliation.

This role is critical to managing dynamic PGM cost changes. The buyer will coordinate and execute PGM demand activities with a focus on reducing cost and risk while maximizing savings. This includes active hedging support and the ability to respond quickly to changing PGM market conditions.

Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, disciplined follow-up, comfort working with excel and purchase documentation, and the ability to coordinate across Purchasing, Raw Material Finance, Treasury, suppliers, MGA, Engineering, and Accounts Payable.

PGM Requirement Planning & Forecast Support

  • Support monthly PGM requirement planning using assembly plant releases, supplier inputs, and washcoater forecasts.
  • Prepare quote requests and collect supplier responses for platinum, palladium, and rhodium requirements.
  • Maintain requirement planning files, forward-buy information, supplier delivery schedules, and supporting documentation needed for approval and execution.
  • Coordinate with Raw Material Finance to confirm monthly buy recommendations, reductions, timing changes, and impacts to budget or inventory assumptions.
  • Track monthly purchase quantities net of forward buys, transfers, and delivery timing changes to support clean handoff to finance and suppliers.

Hedging, Treasury & Market Data Support

  • Support Treasury and Commodity Risk Management with documentation related to physical hedges, forward buys, LME/market price references, PO/ODA details, and approval follow-up.
  • Maintain records of value dates, trade dates, commodity quantities, hedge levels, PO/ODA identifiers, and supplier confirmations.
  • Help prepare summaries used for leadership review of hedging actions, physical metal availability, and market-risk mitigation decisions.
  • Ensure pricing support is complete and organized before supplier payment, finance approval, or debit/credit memo activity is initiated.

Consigned PGM Material Flow & Delivery Coordination

  • Coordinate PGM delivery schedules to washcoat vaults, including supplier confirmations, value dates, quantities, and delivery timing.
  • Support tracking of PGM through the North America consigned model, where Stellantis owns PGM through the manufacturing lifecycle until delivery at plant.
  • Confirm good-delivery support, including bill of lading, assay, packing, weight, and receipt documentation as provided by suppliers or washcoaters.
  • Maintain process checklists to reduce key-person dependency and enable documented backup coverage.

Process Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Document standard work for monthly PGM processing, requirements planning, delivery scheduling, finance approvals, debit/credit memos, and hedging support.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or automate manual tracking, reduce duplicate entry, and improve auditability of PGM transactions.
  • Maintain organized files and status trackers to improve handoff between buyers, finance, Treasury, suppliers, and MGA.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related field
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, finance support, commodity administration, supplier coordination, or related business operations.
  • Strong Excel skills, including maintaining structured trackers, working with formulas, reconciling data, and reviewing large tables for accuracy.
  • Strong written communication, follow-up discipline, and attention to detail in a transaction-heavy environment.
  • Ability to work with confidential business information and support cross-functional stakeholders in Purchasing, Finance, Treasury, Engineering, and suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to automotive purchasing, raw materials, precious metals, catalysts, finance operations, AP processes, or supplier payment workflows.
  • Familiarity with material forecasting, purchase order documentation, commodity pricing, hedging terminology, or consigned inventory models.
  • Experience creating procedure documentation, standard work, process maps, or control checklists.
