| Position Summary |
This is a senior level position for a highly experienced and technical lead. They will be supporting the Student Information Services (
SIS) team, a division of Enterprise Information Technology Services)
EITS. It is a senior level application administration and implementation position which will support current system administration tasks, maintenance and troubleshooting, as well as provide analysis, development, integration and implementation of new systems pertaining to the Student Information Systems. |
| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience administrating and supporting mission critical PRODUCTION systems interfacing with both internal (technical) and external (functional) users.
- Experience evaluating, completing gap analysis, creating implementation plans, and working with difficult vendors to implement, upgrade and maintain new systems.
- Large, and long term project management experience.
- Experience in the Higher Education industry with expert knowledge of Student Information System relational data models from Ellucian Systems, Baseline Banner, the ODS and the EDW.
- High level of proficiency in efficient and advanced PL/SQL and SQL development and design.
- In depth knowledge and experience with UNIX commands and shell scripts
- In depth knowledge and skills using SQL, PL/SQL, XML, Argos, Ellucian ODS, UC4, JAVA, HTML and Oracle DBMS.

Administer Banner related or integrated systems such as batch processing tool and the ODS with other downstream systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot product issues
- Work with vendor and Ellucian Application Management Services (AMS) on troubleshooting, enhancements and new upgrades.
- Coordinate with Ellucian AMS on upgrades.
- Work with Ellucian AMS on system and infrastructure changes and other operations-related activities.
- Set up and train users, both functional and technical, on use of the tool.
- Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts, PL/SQL scripts, and packages.
- Diagnose and Troubleshoot server connection issues with external servers.
- Work with in-house developers for promotion of production and preproduction jobs and process flows.
- Create and troubleshoot external server connections with decentralized technical staff.

Provide expert analysis, evaluation, and implementation of new systems and integrations. This will involve evaluation of the products, working with functional users on gap analysis and features as needed, researching technical documentation, creation of an implementation plan, and a transition to go-live and maintenance.

| Duties/Responsibilities |
Provide senior-level maintenance and support for account provisioning processes and tasks related to Athena and other related systems. This includes the establishment, implementation, and support of security roles, groups, classes, and objects in the Athena Student system
- Provision and administer user accounts within all Athena, Argos, UC4, and related product environments, including database-level accounts and roles.
- Implement security hierarchy that is created by data stewards.
- Create and update Athena Security Groups and Classes.
- Implement processes to ensure that security access levels are validated following employment changes (retirements, position changes, terminations) and that we are following Account provisioning policies set up by the Board of Regents.
- Work with campus community to resolve security issues and provide access as authorized by data stewards.
- Work with the data stewards of the student data systems to revise security processes and address abuses of data access privileges.
- Represent Athena support to the campus community through telephone, Remedy and email support.
- Participate in audit-related tasks and assure that team follows account provisioning procedures that are compliant with standards set by State Auditors, Board of Regents and UGA.
