Senior Scrum Master (Senior Consultant, Business & Product Delivery)

At Fearless, we are seeking a Scrum Master as part of our Senior Consultant, Business & Product Delivery career path to support federal digital service delivery by fostering Agile excellence and enabling high-performing teams. This role facilitates Agile practices, coaches teams on Scrum principles, and creates an environment that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Working alongside Product Owners, Project Managers, engineers, designers, and government stakeholders, the Scrum Master removes impediments and ensures predictable delivery of user-centered solutions in a federal environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced servant leader who excels at team facilitation, Agile coaching, and organizational change, with a demonstrated ability to help teams continuously improve while supporting the successful delivery of digital services in a federal environment.

At Fearless, this Senior Consultant role requires versatility,leadership, and collaboration across teams and stakeholders to maximize value delivery and adoption. The role ensures alignment of product strategy with client goals, facilitates agile ceremonies and continuous improvement, and provides critical business and functional analysis to deliver high-quality, user-centered solutions.This role will possess the skills to be able to span the domains of product management, scrum leadership, and business analyst at an advanced application level of proficiency . This Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to support agile software development teams and client organizations.

Work Location

This role operates in a hybrid work environment and requires on-site presence at the customer location in Washington, DC approximately 2-3 days per week to support collaboration with federal stakeholders, with the remaining time performed remotely.

Your Responsibilities in this Role:

  • Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, facilitating Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews, and backlog renement.
  • Coach team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and Fearless delivery methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of self-organization, accountability, continuous learning, and psychological safety.
  • Identify and remove impediments affecting team progress, coordinating resolution across teams and organizational boundaries.
  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain healthy backlogs, clear priorities, and well-dened user stories.
  • Facilitate collaboration between product, engineering, design, and stakeholder groups to ensure alignment on goals and outcomes.
  • Support Agile-at-scale activities, including Scrum of Scrums, Program Increment planning, and SAFe coordination as applicable.
  • Promote effective Agile practices and continuous improvement across delivery teams.
  • Manage Agile tooling environments (e.g., Jira, Conuence, Miro) to support transparency, planning, and documentation.
  • Track and report on Agile delivery metrics such as velocity, burndown, throughput, cycle time, and team health indicators.
  • Facilitate retrospective action planning and ensure continuous improvement initiatives are implemented and measured.
  • Incorporate user feedback into backlog renement and sprint planning to support user-centered development.
  • Identify risks and dependencies impacting sprint and release commitments and escalate as appropriate.
  • Support release planning and forecasting activities.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and government stakeholders to maintain alignment on priorities and delivery objectives.
  • Ensure Agile practices align with federal requirements and organizational standards.
  • Facilitate conict resolution and help teams navigate organizational and delivery challenges.

Work Experience

Project Skill and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or equivalent Agile leadership role, including experience supporting teams of similar scope and complexity.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Certied Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent Agile certication preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile and Scrum methodologies, with a proven ability to coach teams and improve delivery performance.
  • Experience supporting Agile teams in federal digital service delivery environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile frameworks, including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Proven ability to facilitate Agile ceremonies, coach Product Owners and teams, and foster continuous improvement.
  • Experience identifying and removing impediments, managing dependencies, and improving team effectiveness.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, coaching, and conict resolution skills.
  • Experience using Agile collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Conuence, Miro, and GitHub.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting DevSecOps environments, incremental delivery, and user feedback integration.
  • Working knowledge of human-centered design principles.
  • Familiarity with Executive Order 14058, OMB A-11 Section 280, and digital.gov Agile guidance.
  • Experience with CI/CD integration and DevSecOps delivery models.

  • Advanced Application: You can perform the actions associated with a skill without assistance. You are recognized within your immediate organization as "a person to ask" when difficult questions regarding required skills arise.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:

Minimum Salary: $107,667

Salary Midpoint: $139,967

Maximum Salary: $181,957

Hiring Range for Role: $107,667 - $120,000

*This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance criteria.
