High voltage electrical machines are used as motors or generators in demanding applications for driving heavy industrial loads, for power generation or for grid stabilization, and have rated powers in the megawatt range.

The increasing use of renewables in the grid makes large machinery gain even more interest as key devices in the electrical power system.

This project is focusing on electromagnetic design of high voltage electrical machines for understanding detailed loss behavior and for finding means for improving performance.
