This position requires an initial period of on-site training, followed by a hybrid schedule that combines remote work with regular in-office collaboration.
Candidates must reside in the Madison, Wisconsin area and be available to work on-site as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Underwriting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the underwriting team, including accountability for risk selection, service delivery to all levels of customers, and management and development of the underwriting team members. The Underwriting Manager will interface with the sales team, external customers and independent insurance agents to facilitate the annual renewal process for existing clients and conduct risk assessment for potential new clients.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or closely related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in health insurance setting, with an emphasis on Health Management Organizations (HMOs) experience.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in working with health insurance quotes/renewals preferred.
- Strong analytic and strategic thinking skill set.
- Strong leadership skills to bring stakeholders together.
- Demonstrated business acumen, including broad health care experience.
- Ability to influence business decisions and directions for initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance market dynamics.
