National Sales Manager
Overview:
This role will proactively sell our hotel both locally and nationally while responding to incoming leads and RFPs to generate group business. Working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, we expect that our chosen individual will be a substantial contributor to our revenue and the hotel's financial success.
Responsibilities:
* Target group accounts in the assigned geographic and or vertical market and/or territory with an emphasis on proactive selling and account saturation.
* Proactively identify, qualify, and solicit new business to achieve personal and hotel room night and revenue monthly sales goals.
* Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, site inspections, etc.
* Support and promote all corporate programs to increase customer awareness of Omni Hotels and ensure that the customer understands the appropriate benefits of each program.
* Maintain high quality guest offerings, in coordination with Convention Services Department, and contribute to the protection and cleanliness of the owner's physical assets.
* Plan, prioritize, and implement sales strategies and sales plans, to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Prepare guest proposals with various options available for services and products (rooms, events, F&B, convention or meeting space, pricing, dates, locations) that are consistent with the goal of high guest satisfaction and with other hotel bookings and profitability standards.
* Negotiate, prepare, and review terms of contracts for services in compliance with hotel billing and rate guidelines and under supervision of Director of Sales & Marketing.
* Work collaboratively with off-property sales channels (Regional Sales Offices, 3rd parties, etc.) to ensure sales efforts are well coordinated.
* Conduct frequent walk-throughs of the hotel to become familiar with the space, interact with other departments, check-in on events, and provide property site tours.
* Research and understand the overall competitive market (i.e.: competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc.) to optimize selling and targeting of need date periods for the hotel.
* Provide accurate, complete, and effective turnover to conference services.
* Engage in communications with group contacts before, during and after all meetings to encourage rebooking of business or to solicit other business within account.
* Attend and contribute to regular meetings of sales team and hotel leadership, including daily meetings or interactions with Director of Sales & Marketing regarding occupancy, business forecasts, and future availability of hotel rooms and services.
* Proactively partner with sales resources and administrative/staff support.
* Occasionally travel locally and nationally to develop client relationships and promote the hotel at trade shows and client visits.
* Entertain group contacts while on property and in the marketplace. Sales managers may be required to entertain outside of normal office hours.
* Provide mentorship and professional development to lower level and less experienced sales employees.
* Comply with the requirements of the construction environment including safety training and required safety apparel.
* Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner and as directed by hotel management.
* Maintain the highest ethical standards while representing Omni.
* Comply with hotel and corporate policies and procedures and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years of upscale hotel or resort group sales experience is required.
* Comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
* Mastery of Delphi/FDC/Salesforce.
* Extensive experience with writing contracts and responding to RFPs.
* Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to uncover customer needs, negotiate, provide great service, and close business.
* Must be flexible with schedule to work include some evenings and weekends.
* Ability to work in a variety of settings, including sedentary seated computer work, standing for periods of time, and walking the property, and occasionally conducting work that includes lifting and moving objects of up to 50 pounds.
