The UCI DREAM Center's mission is to support those impacted by the immigration system and who experience educational barriers as a result of their immigration status through advancing systemic change, deconstructing oppressive policies, and fostering community. Your Role on the Team

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students in Student Life & Leadership, the Director of the DREAM Center develops, coordinates, and directs culturally relevant academic and social support programs for undocumented students in their pursuit of academic excellence. The role provides overall direction for DREAM Center program development, collaborates with all campus areas to ensure student needs are met and supports academic retention efforts. The role oversees and evaluates program impact and effectiveness, and serves as the campus subject-matter expert on undocumented student issues. The Director promotes leadership development and advises student organizations.

The Director supervises DREAM Center professional staff, students, and volunteers, and serves as a liaison between the DREAM Center and campus partners, cultivating working relationships with students, staff, faculty, external agency officials, and the public to promote open dialogue about the undocumented student community.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Demonstrated competencies and advanced knowledge in theories of multicultural counseling, learning, identity development, human and career development.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with historically underrepresented ethnic minority communities, first generation college students.
  • Knowledge in the methodologies used to enhance student achievement, such as collaborative teaching/learning models, strategies for effective counseling and peer mentoring, small group facilitation and training, coaching, mentoring and advocacy.
  • Knowledge of and experience in conflict management and intervention strategies.
  • Extensive experience in multicultural competencies, and personal and academic crisis intervention; working with students to assist in clarification of ethics and values.
  • Advanced experience in group dynamics, facilitation, and training; comprehensive assessment of academic preparation and personal competencies.
  • Experience in establishing and implementing short and long term program goals and objectives; demonstrated effectiveness in mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of academic curricula; strong knowledge of the organizational climate, structure/organizations, and culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and administering evaluative instruments for measuring program effectiveness.
  • Advanced experience in planning, developing, and administering enrichment programs/projects, academic and personal development seminars, courses, and workshops.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing funds designated for special programs.
  • Knowledge and experience in researching, compiling and analyzing data, and generating reports; extensive experience in developing evaluative instruments specific to programs/projects goals and objectives.
  • Advanced content expertise and knowledge of research findings and best practices for undocumented students in retention, academic achievement, student learning, collaborative learning and group work, identity and student development, multicultural education, and campus climate issues.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Significant and directly related university program, activity, and management experience.
  • Direct experience conceptualizing, organizing, directing, and advising major campus projects and programs.
  • Supervisory experience with full-time career and part-time student staff.
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal capabilities.

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of research methodologies and research designs.
  • Experience working with donors and foundations on gift procurement, stewardship, and reporting.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $79,200.00- $95,112.00 (Annual).
