Patient Care Technician - A7 - Urology / Renal - Med/Surg

The medical-surgical unit is a 27-bed unit specializing in renal care and urology patients.We provide care for chronic and acute renal disease patients, many of whom have comorbid conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and infectious wounds. This unit serves a patient population ranging from young adultsto the geriatric. Our goal is to provide exemplary careutilizingevidence-based practice and providing thorough discharge teaching toprevent/delaysubsequenthospitalizations.Our team works well together and loves our Mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to our patients.

Summary:

Provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff and ensures patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Answering patient calls and helping patients with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
• Feeding patients, measuring and recording their food and liquid intake.
• Monitoring and documenting patients' temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs and reporting changes to nurses or doctors.
• Assisting nurses or doctors with medical procedures and dressing wounds.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required.
