Job Description
The purpose of this position is to manage all operations required to support the mail, central receiving, warehouse, and material distribution functions of the campus. This is accomplished by overseeing shipping and receiving activities, mail room operations, central stores and forklift operations; tracking assets using software systems; training employees; preparing reports; maintaining safety procedures; developing goals; monitoring expenditures; ensuring inventory integrity; and reviewing and managing work orders. Other duties include overseeing and maintaining forklift certifications; benchmarking and overseeing departmental operation; maintaining inventory records; and expediting for internal customers.

This is a full-time, exempt staff position.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
High school diploma or GED
Required Experience

  • Minimum of five years of Warehouse distribution services and/or mailroom experience
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
  • Forklift certification
  • Valid Driver's license

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control methodologies, shipping and receiving processes, mail services, distribution functions, and asset management practices.
  • Skill in training employees, maintaining safety procedures, and preparing and analyzing inventory reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to meet campus service needs
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory, asset, and operational records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is highly preferred
  • Work experience within Higher Education

Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm
