ATC is looking to fill a vacancy at our customer site located in Washington, D.C. The incumbent must be a self-starter and self-motivated; sometimes only using general guidance from the customers/sponsor or the Program Manager.
The Systems Engineer will work with a small, highly effective team of engineers, technicians and other professionals to deliver solutions (electrical, mechanical, tactical, RF and mobile communications and others) for a diverse customer base using commercial and custom components. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the system design and functionality of the custom/COTS solutions. The Systems Engineer will be part of the core team assigned to numerous programs and will work alongside the Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, Mechanical Designer, Electronics and Mechanical technicians, and others as a part of the project team.
The types of projects include, but are not limited to custom mobile communications systems and components, and satellite ground terminals
Responsibilities:
  • Develop system architectures, functional diagrams and schematics, and provide technical guidelines for assembly and test, both in prototype and production stages
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Establish test requirements, provide systems engineering input to test systems configurations and analyze test data to verify requirements compliance
  • Provide systems engineering inputs to systems and components troubleshooting and anomaly resolutions
  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians and other professionals on technical tasks and the execution of the projects
  • Some travel, both CONUS and OCONUS, is to be expected
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role
  • Must be a good team leader and be able to assign tasks while multitasking on other aspects of the program(s)
  • Have a thorough understanding of troubleshooting methods and processes
  • Have a thorough understanding of telecommunication systems, both RF as well as terrestrial, principals and effects, to include use of spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Have experience with advanced troubleshooting of the communications systems, to include RF, terrestrial and power circuits
  • Some mechanical design/knowledge experience is helpful but not required
  • Basic PC Board layout experience and knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of 12 VDC and 120/240 VAC power systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), MS Visio, MS Project and Windows Operating System
  • Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Use of 3D printers, laser engravers, and other technologies is extremely helpful but not required.
  • Other attributes
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to work in tight spaces
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen
  • Candidate must have a minimum of and maintain a Secret Security Clearance, TS/SCI Clearance eligibility preferred
