Summary
Provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team in coordinating research activities that may include conducting a variety of routine experiments with established methodologies, data collection and management, and other research activities as assigned.
Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem)to provide degree equivalency verification.

Essential Functions
-Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
-Study cohort management.
-Outreach communication with subjects, conducting mailings, follow-up on mailings, and obtaining necessary documents.
-Provides assistance on work related to epidemiological studies and other population-based research.
The research assistant will work with researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health on the Nurses' Health Study 3 (NHS3) and the Growing Up Today Studies (GUTS). The RA will primarily be involved in the day-to-day operations of the cohorts, including answering participant inquiries, preparing reports for biweekly cohort meetings, setting meeting agendas, taking meeting minutes, updating the internal and external websites for each cohort, developing and editing cohort newsletters, developing and checking questionnaires, identifying new cases of disease for medical record review and confirmation, and other duties as necessary. We will provide training as needed, but prefer candidates who are willing to perform basic qualitative methods research, produce simple data tabulations in SAS or R, and/or create online questionnaires in REDCap for various NHS3 and GUTS projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The RA will be responsible for day to day operations of the cohorts, under the direction of a project coordinator, the cohort director, and the cohort principal investigator, and with assistance from the cohort programmers. He/she will work closely with various substudy teams to ensure online questionnaires are developed and tested in a timely fashion, and will assist with producing reports on study progress. He/she will also assist with preparation of scientific manuscripts, literature searches, and other tasks as necessary.
