DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in preparing meals and keeping dining areas clean. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare, portion, and plate food items to support daily meal service
  • Tray Assembly: Assemble resident trays by reading special diet codes and ticket information
  • Dining Support: Deliver trays, set up serving areas, and restock items throughout meal service
  • Sanitation Duties: Clean dishes, equipment, tables, floors, and food preparation areas
  • Equipment Care: Operate and clean dish machines, carts, refrigerators, and related tools
  • Record Keeping: Document food usage, temperatures, and meal counts as required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (12:00 PM to 8:30 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience
  • Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
  • Willingness to work full-time from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM with rotating days and weekends to be determined
  • Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
  • Work experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
  • Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
