THE POSITION

Join the Department of Transportation as a Clerical Assistant 3, where you will support important services that keep vehicle records accurate and reliable. In this role, you will handle a variety of tasks that help customers and staff receive timely and clear information. Your work will strengthen communication and improve the efficiency of daily operations within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will provide clerical and research support to ensure vehicle records are correct and that customers receive clear, accurate information. The work involves reviewing documents, preparing correspondence, and assisting customers and partners. As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will perform the following duties:

  • Correspondence Work: Prepare, revise, and proofread letters and executive correspondence for internal and external customers
  • Record Research: Review vehicle records, source documents, and program files to resolve discrepancies and provide accurate information
  • Transaction Processing: Process vehicle titling, registration, and related transactions within required systems
  • Customer Assistance: Respond to inquiries from customers, partners, and service providers through phone, email, and written communication
  • Help Desk Support: Provide guidance for ELT and NMVTIS users by researching records and offering accurate program information
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain detailed files, spreadsheets, work logs, and electronic records to support unit operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
