Assembly Supervisor

Location: Beverly, MA 01915

Pay Rate: $36.00 - $40.00/hour or up to $83,000 a year

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Position Summary

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing customer orders throughout the manufacturing process to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. This role coordinates employee assignments, optimizes workflow efficiency, improves product flow, and reduces in-process lead times.

The Assembly Supervisor will lead, train, and mentor production personnel, with a strong focus on developing Group Leaders and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management



  • Drive daily, weekly, and monthly production schedule attainment.
  • Organize, direct, and control assembly operations to meet production objectives, quality standards, and customer delivery requirements.
  • Supervise up to 20 assembly employees while ensuring productivity, efficiency, and quality goals are achieved.
  • Coordinate labor resources and work assignments to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce lead times.
  • Support overtime requirements as needed to meet production schedules.


Leadership & Employee Development



  • Train, mentor, and develop production employees, with a focus on Group Leaders.
  • Provide instruction on proper assembly techniques, machine operation, production tooling, and workplace safety.
  • Administer company personnel policies to ensure fair and consistent employee treatment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend compensation adjustments in accordance with company policies.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives and support employee engagement efforts.


Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement



  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards.
  • Lead, support, and participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for tooling and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of engineering and manufacturing documentation systems.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience



  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP manufacturing systems, including shop floor and production control processes.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive problem-solving activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on professionalism, respect, and teamwork.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Customer-focused mindset and commitment to operational excellence.



Preferred Competencies



  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience with performance management and employee development.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and quality systems.



Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing environment and regularly uses:



  • Electrical test equipment
  • Standard hand tools
  • Microscopes
  • Computers, phones, and other office equipment


The role requires frequent interaction with production personnel and hands-on involvement in daily manufacturing operations.

The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
