GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, HARNESS (STARLINK)

SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation and most advanced broadband internet system. We provide reliable and fast internet to millions of users worldwide, including populations with little or no connectivity, rural communities, aircraft, watercraft, and places where existing services are unreliable, too expensive, or disconnected by natural disasters. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, thousands of satellites and consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing. The Starlink team is seeking out the best-in-class professionals to maximize Starlink's potential for communities and businesses around the globe.

As a Global Sourcing Manager, you will be part of an agile, yet robust, supply chain team that will enable a competitive advantage for the company. The functions within the department include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, and logistics and inventory. SpaceX supply chain plays a key role in enabling SpaceX to meet these ambitious growth targets and contribute to making us a multi-planetary species

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead a sourcing team of 3 focused on the harness commodity, providing coaching, mentorship, and process strategic guidance while fostering a high-performance culture


  • Develop and manage the supply base to support sourcing for wire harnesses(copper & fiber), connectors, and associated mechanical components


  • Coordinate with multiple sub-assembly teams across the satellite to align their schedules with top-level satellite planning, ensuring clear and accurate MRP signals across programs with at least 90% accuracy to minimize mixed signals for buyers and vendors


  • Partner with the internal program teams, engineering and supply chain leadership to lead sourcing decisions for critical vendors, ensuring strong alignment with program priorities, material requirements, and overall company strategic objectives


  • Partner with the full engineering team to drive on-time drawing releases and improve pre-release/risk-buy BOM communication processes


  • Accelerate hand-carry, expedite, and RFI expedite processes to support aggressive development and production schedules


  • Create and implement improved processes for the connector and mechanical teams to enable timely buying and expediting of components


  • Collaborate with the operations team to develop automated Line of Balance (LOB) tracking tools for materials at vendors, addressing the challenges of rapidly changing BOMs


  • Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support both existing platforms and new product development (NPI)


  • Provide weekly team status reporting, escalate issues to management when necessary, and communicate program health clearly to leadership


  • Utilize negotiations to maximize value, cost savings, delivery priority, and risk reduction while ensuring alignment with program budgets


  • Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for the harness and connector commodity


  • Create sourcing strategies that reduce risk, enable continuous cost reduction, and align with company goals on payment terms, cash targets, on-time delivery, and cost savings


  • Build genuine relationships both internally and externally and drive cross-functional teams to achieve consensus


  • Present value propositions to SpaceX executives, including contract awards, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply issues


  • Keep up with industry and commodity market trends while developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with major suppliers


  • Source, support, and drive raw material and supplier qualification through engineering and quality teams


  • Coordinate and drive alignment between SpaceX future designs and preferred supplier technology roadmaps


  • Develop and implement sourcing and planning strategies for harnessing connector change management



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience working in a one or more of the following; or advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in a one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in a one or more of the following in lieu of a degree





    • Engineering


    • Purchasing


    • Contract negotiation


    • Material or production planning


    • Operations or supply chain management


    • Material cost control


    • Master production scheduling




PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • 3+ years of procurement experience in interconnects, wire harnesses, or connectors


  • Experience managing a team is strongly preferred


  • Demonstrated NPI (New Product Introduction) mindset with proven success in fast-paced startup or high-growth environments


  • Strong track record of implementing new processes and driving operational improvements in dynamic programs


  • Technical knowledge of harnesses, connectors, and mechanical components; including BOM management, drawing releases, and expediting


  • Experience working with rapidly changing BOMs and complex development programs


  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to all levels of the organization


  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment


  • Ability to conduct all activities with integrity and urgency



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to work extended hours and some nights and weekends when needed


  • Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours, up to 30% travel may be required, including international travel


  • Valid driver's license


  • This position is based in Redmond, WA and requires being 100% onsite



COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Global Supply Manager: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
