What You'll Do

The Dispensary Assistant is responsible for organizing and stocking inventory, issuing and receiving instruments. They are responsible for equipment control and security of dental equipment and instrument cassettes. Maintains a clean, well-organized work area, and provides excellent customer service to students and staff in Dental Clinics.
  • Inventory Management:
    Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure smooth operation of the clinic. Performs inventory reports and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Equipment control:
    Maintains security of dental equipment and instrument cassettes. Follows barcode system protocol. Reviews and signs transfers of instruments from or to Central Sterilization Facility (CSF) or another dispensary. Inspects returning cassettes for damage, debris, defects, or missing items. Communicates with students to take appropriate action regarding instruments and infection control protocol of equipment.
  • Customer service:
    Works effectively with faculty, students, residents, and other Clinic Materials staff to ensure a smooth operation. Demonstrates the Clinic Materials values of mutual respect, patient centered, safety, responsible, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains a clean well organized work area, and sweep the operatories for gloves, cavicide, blue wrap and remove any remaining materials.
  • Also other duties as needed to contribute to the team effort of Support Services.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Vocational/Technical training.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments.
  • CDA-Certified Dental Assistant.

Pay Range

Minimum $20.50, Midpoint $24.40, Maximum $28.30

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
