DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the well-being of residents at the Southwestern Veterans' Center by helping plan and carry out recreational and educational activities that encourage social, physical, and emotional growth. As a Therapeutic Activities Aide, you will perform the following duties:
- Activity Support: Assist with planning, organizing, and leading activities that promote resident engagement
- Resident Interaction: Guide and assist residents during individual and group programs
- Safe Environment: Maintain a friendly and secure setting for residents, visitors, and volunteers
- Transportation Assistance: Escort and transport residents to and from activities while ensuring their comfort and safety
- Supply Management: Maintain activity supplies and prepare needed items ahead of scheduled events
- Observation Reporting: Monitor resident behavior and share observations with supervisors and care teams

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
- Travel and overtime as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
In accordance with the seniority provisions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, this position was previously posted for seniority candidates. Since there were no seniority candidates, it is now open to all applicants.
