DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays a key role in supporting transportation and operational needs at the Southeastern Veterans Center. The work helps ensure that residents, materials, and equipment are moved safely and reliably. As a Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Operation: Operate cars, vans, trucks, and buses to transport residents and materials on local and long-distance routes
- Safety Checks: Inspect vehicles and equipment before operation to ensure safe function
- Resident Support: Confirm that locking devices and equipment are secured for resident safety during travel
- Material Transport: Carry and deliver supplies, mail, medical items, and maintenance materials as assigned
- Maintenance Tasks: Complete minor repairs and routine care such as cleaning, greasing, and checking fluid levels
- General Duties: Assist with loading, unloading, record keeping, tool use, and assigned department tasks

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work a flexible schedule. You will work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
