Responsibilities: JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Genetic counselor assists in the overall coordination of the genetics program. The lead will support the development of orientation materials and the onboarding for new hires. This position will assist with management of genetic counseling appointments to ensure scheduling is optimized across the genetics program. The lead position will support initiatives to grow the program via in person patient visits as well as by leveraging technology. In addition, the lead position will assist with the program oversight in regard to leading and participating in meetings that support the genetics program.
The lead will serve as the central point of contact to the genetics staff, facilitating collaboration among all team members and ensuring supportive care for patient receiving genetic counseling services. The lead will demonstrate commitment to quality patient care, implement creative ways to meet diverse patient needs and ensure best practices. Able to develop collaborative relationships internally and externally. The position provides cancer genetic and psychosocial counseling to patients; serves as an educator, consultant and researcher in cancer genetic programs. Discuss genetic testing options and the associated risks, benefits, and limitations with patients to assist them in making informed decisions. Collaborate with other local and national cancer genetics programs and appropriate health care professionals to gain new insights, which enhance the services provided at the Cancer Genetic Risk Assessment and Cancer Prevention Program. Supervise genetic counseling students. Market and promote the Cancer Genetic Risk Assessment and Cancer Prevention Program. Attend Interdisciplinary Breast, Pancreatic, and General Tumor Board conferences on all five campuses of Honor Health as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
