Job Summary

River Oaks Hospital is looking for a dynamic Registered Nurse Full Time Days or Full Time Nights

Registered Nurse is a registered professional nurse who delivers, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. The Staff Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served. Non-exempt hourly position.

Responsibilities

• Provide proper nursing care to all patients, consults with Physicians and other members of the treatment team.
• Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
• Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.

Skills and Competencies

• Previous experience in a mental health hospital setting is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective patient interaction.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
• Ability to exhibit empathy, respect and compassion that involve understanding and care for patients.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing; current licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Nurses.
• Ability to clearly speak, write and understand verbal and written English. Selected skills/credentials as defined by the department's scope of services.
• Ability to work with others in a team environment.
• Previous experience in a psychiatric hospital or related inpatient setting preferred

Hours of Work: 7a-7p or 7p - 7a; other times as indicated by immediate supervisor.
