Position Summary The Merchandise Finance Intern will support the Merchandise Finance team in analyzing product performance, sales trends, inventory investments, and margin optimization across merchandising categories. This role provides hands-on exposure to retail finance, forecasting, pricing analysis, and cross-functional business operations. As part of the internship, the intern will lead a strategic seasonal merchandising finance project focused on analyzing historical seasonal performance data and recommending the most effective space allocation strategy, including product placement, assortment size, and floor layout for an upcoming seasonal set. The objective of the project is to maximize sales, gross margin, and inventory productivity through data-driven insights and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, curious about retail economics, and comfortable working with data to support strategic business decisions. Key Responsibilities * Support forecasting and budgeting processes for merchandise categories * Analyze product-level and category-level financial performance * Prepare variance analysis comparing actual results to forecast and plan * Collaborate with merchandising, planning, and inventory teams to evaluate business opportunities and risks * Build and maintain Excel models, dashboards, and financial trackers * Conduct historical seasonal performance analysis to identify trends and opportunities * Develop recommendations for seasonal space allocation strategies, including placement optimization, assortment sizing, and merchandising layout effectiveness * Present project findings and recommendations to finance and merchandising leadership Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in:
