Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The North Carolina Collaboratory at UNC-Chapel Hill disseminates the policy and research expertise of the University for practical use by state and local government. A collaboratory is a center without walls in which researchers can perform their research without regard to physical location, interacting with colleagues, accessing instrumentation, sharing data and computational resources and accessing information in digital libraries in a collaborative manner.
Position Summary
The Collaboratory Summer Intern engages with Collaboratory project leads, stakeholders, and policymakers, monitoring legislative bills and regulatory proposals relevant to Collaboratory projects. It also includes identifying and prioritizing specific Collaboratory projects of interest for involvement and crafting written materials and deliverables to effectively communicate project details.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
Demonstrated interest in state policy issues and research, as evidenced by their coursework or relevant work experience.
