Job Overview

Advantest Interconnect Solutions (AIS) has an Applications Engineering (SI/PI) position.

Application engineers are responsible for the design and development of ATE (automatic test equipment) test interface solutions.

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to experience the entire technical cycle from concept through validation, and the role of supporting our customer's demanding highspeed digital and RF test requirements. The candidate will optimize systems for high frequency and high-power performances, simulate and model the behavior and validate the products performance to ensure compliance and correlation with Simulations

This is a customer facing role that relies on your deep technical skills and your ability to conceive a plan, schedule, organize and optimize engineering systems. You will engage with customer on a technical level and will work collaboratively with other Advantest technology groups, Business Units, partners, and suppliers to develop and integrate advanced electrical and mechanical technologies into Advantest's automated test systems.

You will be working with a highly skilled cross functional team that will assist you and leverage your expertise.

Responsibilities and Duties



  • Translate customer test requirements related to device performance and create strategy for performance optimizations
  • Understand the tester instrumentation and DUT test requirements,
  • Define PCB materials and layout rules for high speed and RF circuits
  • Own prototype functional checkout and validation.
  • Build productive relationships with internal and external business partners


  • Develop and implement SI and PI (PDN, DC and AC) designs for new semiconductor test systems and components, including PCBA, Load Board and sockets. Target devices include high performance computing, AI and graphics devices with data rates of 64Gb/s and beyond.
  • Perform Signal Integrity and Power Integrity design and analysis of entire channel: including package, sockets, interposers, PCBA load board, cables.
  • Interpret functional test results and present findings to customers
  • Provide guidance to lower-level staff, recommending and designing innovations, improved methods, tools, and processes.
  • Act as a customer contact on selective technical matters and analyze customer requirements.
  • Identify risk areas and optimization opportunities.
  • Take on project ownership and management; determine technology requirements and develop strategies.
