Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state.

Job Overview:

The Audit Director 1 position oversees the coordination of the daily administrative services for contract monitoring audits for privately managed facilities. Other duties and responsibilities include oversight of the development and distribution of contract monitoring instruments, reviewing policies, preparing reports and presentations, and overseeing audit processes related to contracts and TDOC policies. This position reports directly to the Deputy Inspector General. This position requires frequent travel to assist on-site Correctional Compliance Specialists assigned to each facility and conducting quarterly audits of each privately managed facility. This position reports directly to the Deputy Inspector General.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage four Correctional Compliance Specialists, to include developing job performance plans, completing Interims I and II and annual reviews.

  • Ensure attendance or completion of all required initial and annual training of direct reports, and providing other supervisory support as required.

  • Oversee and manage the contract monitoring process for all TDOC privately managed facility contracts, to include weekly reports, monthly compliance reports, and quarterly inspection reports.

  • Oversee and manage follow-up inspections on findings and plans of corrective actions resulting from audits.

  • Create and maintain a schedule for quarterly inspections for each privately managed facility.

  • Prepare, review, and distribute all compliance reports.

  • Maintain a tracking system for findings notated during audits.

  • Oversee and manage the use and distribution of all contract monitoring instruments.

  • Review policies, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Must have a bachelor's degree and at least ten (10) years of correctional or auditing experience.
