We are seeking a Charging and Power-Moding Calibration Engineer to develop, validate, and release vehicle level calibration for AC/DC charging and network power-state management on electrified propulsion systems.
This role is responsible for ensuring safe, robust, and compliant charging and power mode behavior across all vehicle operating states, with direct ownership of calibration supporting Safety Releases, PCAL Quality Gates, and vehicle launch readiness. The successful candidate will collaborate cross functionally with BMS, EVCU, IDCM, HMI, Software, Systems, and Validation teams to deliver production-ready calibration that meets performance, safety, regulatory, and customer-experience targets. Key Responsibilities:
- Charging Calibration
- Develop and validate AC (Level 1 / Level 2) and DC Fast Charging calibrations for BEV and xEV platforms.
- Support industry charging standards and interoperability including ISO 15118, IEC, SAE, GB/T, CCS, CHAdeMO, NACS and related regional requirements.
- Calibrate charge detection, charge enable, charge completion, derating, fault handling, and recovery strategies.
- Own calibration logic related to charge port thermal protection, interlocks, lock control, and safety-critical charge release conditions.
- Calibrate relevant software features for Low Voltage Charging.
Power-Moding & Network Management Calibration
- Calibrate vehicle power-mode transitions (Off, Accessory, Run, Charge, Sleep, After-Run).
- Ensure correct HV contactor behavior, HVIL validation, isolation readiness, and bus-voltage arbitration prior to enabling propulsion or charging.
- Support integration of EVCU, IDCM, BPCM, inverter(s), DCDC, thermal, and other networked controllers.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to wakeups, shutdown sequencing, and unintended power consumption (12V drain).
Validation & Release Execution
- Execute calibration validation on Vehicle, HIL, Bench, and Charge-Cart environments.
- Support environmental testing (hot, cold, altitude) and off-nominal charging conditions.
- Lead calibration issue investigation using data collection, postprocessing, and root-cause analysis.
- Charging and power-moding features meet safety, performance, and compliance targets with no late escalations.
- Support PCAL Quality Gates, Safety Releases, Compliance reviews, and production release artifacts.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with BMS COE, Software, Systems, Validation, and Compliance teams.
- Author and maintain calibration guide updates, DVP&R inputs, decision trees, and lessons learned.
- Ensure calibration aligns with PCAL best practices and Stellantis development processes.
- Participate and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong understanding of vehicle network management and state based control systems.
- Hands-on experience with calibration tools (e.g., ETAS/INCA, MATLAB, Simulink, Canalyzer).
- Experience working with CAN / CAN-FD messaging and diagnostics.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex system level issues across multiple ECUs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EV charging systems (AC/DC, DCFC, V2X, PnC).
- Knowledge of BMS, IDCM, EVCU, DCDC, and inverter interactions.
- Familiarity with HV safety concepts, contactor control, HVIL, isolation, and functional safety principles.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering
- "AI Native" approach to work-stream efficiency.
- Experience supporting launch programs and compliance releases.
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate in a cross functional engineering environment.
